4. The leaked CCP newsletter is deeply worrying because it does appear to break promises made by CCP to the CSM (and via them to the wider Eve community). It shows massive disrespect to our community and makes it painfully clear that Eve players are simply viewed as a cash cow to be relentlessly milked to fund other ventures.
The PR damage from this leak is immense in terms of broken trust and hurt feelings and it will take more than simple apologies to repair û I think the Eve community will need to see and be convinced that these terrible ideas will be abandoned so we can return to our subscription-based sandbox unthreatened by Gorden Gecko and his macro-transactional madness.
I believe you need to re-engage with Eve community via the CSM and devblogs, developer-chats etc and actively win us back at this point. I certainly need to hear that you are turning from the destructive path of greedy money-grubbing microtransactions for everything with one hand while you continue to take my subscription money with the other. I need to get my faith in CCP the company back.
5. Finally, the principle that microtransactions could be widened to include balance-breaking advantages for cash payments on top of the subscription is simply untenable in this environment. The impact of doing this will be many lost subscriptions to the perception you are double-charging people for content and breaking the gameplay integrity of the single server environment. You will spoil a gameworld that has been eight years in the making as the Noble Exchange has already begun to spoil our sensation of the sandbox and as the rushed incomplete terrible-looking CQ has damaged our collective suspension of disbelief.
If you must go down this route then Eve will eventually need to go free-to-play and you will have to exist entirely on microtransactions for everything. But I think we both know this is not going to fly. I strongly advise you to take the message back to the management that if you are short of cash simply look at upping the subscription fee rather than messing with the sandbox in this destructively short-sighted manner.
$70 dollar monocles or ôgold torpedoesö will not bring the crowds flooding into Incarna. People join games because they are original, accessible and fun. That is why World of Tanks works û not because the developers there are offering bling tank-decals for premium bucks!
CCP already have a unique IP in the worldÆs biggest single-server science-fiction simulation sandbox. Stop trying to copy the bloody fairy sparkle ponies in Wow! Put your minds back on Eve Online front and centre and finish the content we need finishing and stop trying to force-feed us with microtransaction-delivered immersion-breaking rubbish. You have a loyal and passionate player base right now. Work a bit at keeping us.
Monocle-gate has made CCP the laughing stock of the gaming industry.
Listening to the player base and stepping back from the egotistical insanities of the "greed-is-good" brink will be the one thing you can actually do that deserves to be called ôfearless" at this point.
I think these posts by Jade pretty much sum up the feelings of many in the community.

Unfortunetly for CCP they should have done some more research on their customer demographic and realised that it isn't the same as 'hold your hand cartoon land' across the way.
In all seriousness though I'm not sure what they can say in their own defense at this stage to appease the community and regardless of what they say, how can you believe them. Because let's face the truth here, unless there is legal document stating that there will not be any non-vanity items in EvE Online ever then what's said now is meaningless in 1,2,6 months+ time.
Strange how your customers lose their trust in you when you lie to them.

Ah I don't think telling someone to 'take a long walk off a short pier' constitutes a death threat. Unless it does in your country? in Australia it means your telling them to **** off.

I actually lol'd at Hilmar's attitude. He seems to think he sells an essential service where people don't have a choice. The market is flooded with options and more are on the way at an even greater accelerated rate than ever before.
Oh well I was looking to make a permanent home in EvE Online, but I can't support a company with this sort of attitude. All I can say is 'Next'.
For those who enjoyed DAOC check out www.primeonline.com (sci-fi DAOC ftw) a 3 faction PvP game where map control for your chosen faction affects the actual gameworld. Will be out later on this year.

To all those that are threatening to cancel their sub 'IF' CCP add non-vanity items to the MT store. I think it is pretty clear that CCP 'DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR THREATS' they only care if you actually cancel your subscription. They assume that by not cancelling you are so dependant on the game that you will whine and moan but at the end of the day you wont leave.
Do you want to make them rethink their whole MT strategy? then cancel because to CCP anything less is complete drivel.

For all those who keep asking "will non-vanity items be in the MT store?" ... please stop. CCP have already given you your answer in the documents and responses made by them.
All your *****ing and moaning means nothing to them, Hilmar even states this in the leaked internal memo.
If you really want to get them to listen and maybe change their viewpoint ... then cancel your subscription because that's all Hilmar understands, actions!
I for one hope this gets resolved for the better because I want to play this game. But for now I have cancelled and will wait to see if CCP actually gets a reality check.
Also what do you think will happen if this MT garbage goes ahead in it's current form? other developers will see it and think they can do the same. You wont be able to escape it in any game you go to!

Got permabanned for telling a CCP rep to 'take a long walk off a short pier', which apparently is a death threat in CCP land.

Originally by: CCP Fallout No, ponies and war declarations are a waste of time. What I should be doing now is gathering your feedback and spreading this on throughout the company. This is what you guys pay me to do. Instead, I'm removing pony pictures from the forums.
Please do not misconstrue or take what I said out of context. Doing so will continue to cause strife amongst the community, unfortunately.
so you guys are spending your time reading war dec posts on GD instead of responding to the single thread with 500,000 views? you have the ability to stop all this nonsense right now by answering one question:
WILL AUR GO BEYOND VANITY ITEMS??
The fact that your current repsponse to this single issue consist of failed redirection and silence only aggrivate the situation.
JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!!
This is not a question that I can answer as I am neither familiar with work in this particular feature, nor am a member of the team working on it. Our corporate policy is that we can only talk about that which we work on.
Earlier, he said he was too busy removing pony pics to collect contructive feedback. Several links to posts and documents were provided in the next few posts but were ignored. Then he responded with this to The Question. Only upper management can answer our question now and we all know how that will/ have gone.
Do you have a link to where CCP Fallout said "Only upper management can answer our question now and we all know how that will have gone"?

Originally by: Ragnar Wintermute Has it occurred to anyone that the new Aurum system is a mechanism that allows CCP to eat up plexes without having to give players extra game time thus reducing more overhead?
They could have done that by putting a 'valid until' time limit on PLEX, the same way most stores do with their gift cards.

CCP doesn't.
They did it. All themselves.
Still the same game. This is over one think piece published internally you're already lighting matches. You clearly don't love the game if you're trying to ruin it. Either trust and watch it shake out or leave. HTFU.
HILMAR is that you .. ok we have some questions!

Hilmar's been taking pointers from Smedley.
Because Smedley has some great ideas about how you should treat your players, like: a) Listen to them b) Be honest c) Say no to MT ... oh wait.
lol ... the paralels are just all so familiar.
On a more serious note, looking through the posts you can tell who the people are that really love this game ... it's inspiring stuff! Passionate would be an understatement. Communities are what underpin a good MMO, everything else is just pixels. CCP have forgotten this.
I hope enough is done to change the direction CCP is currently going, I really do.

This in an article on massively
Interviewer: So you don't think that sandboxes (and sandbox systems) are dead for SOE? Will you ever make a new sandbox with SWG's pioneering features?
Smedley: The answer is... stay tuned on the subject of sandboxes. We're super excited about the future of sandbox gaming. Let me just leave it at that!

How many sandbox games on the market do you know of that Sony would be interested in?
And to people who don't think it could happen because CCP Fallout says so ... good to see people know how the market works. As if they are going to announce that there are any deals being made. Share prices only increase after official announcements are made, unless of course you have insider information which is dealt with severely if you give it out prior.
Will it happen? who knows, I seriously hope not.
